As part of its series on the 20th anniversary, The New York
Times produced these "maps" of AIDS. Rather than show
you any other article, I'm just showing you this because it's
so powerful.
Make sure you see the second page (page 2 of 2). On
this world atlas, each little square represents 2,500 people
living with AIDS. It's staggering. Note how many African countries
are bigger than the entire United States. The graph showing
new cases is also stunning.
When it first comes up, it's not really legible. You can print
